What is a vehicle "Hasar Kaydı" (Damage Record), and what are its types?

What is "Hasar Kaydı"?

"Hasar Kaydı," meaning "Damage Record," is a term commonly used in the context of vehicle insurance. It refers to a record that includes details of accidents, damages, and compensations related to a vehicle. This record is crucial for insurance companies and second-hand car buyers, as it provides insights into the vehicle's history and the extent to which it has been involved in accidents. Such records help in determining the car's value and influence the cost of insuring it.

What are the types of "Hasar Kaydı"?

Damage Record (Hasar Kaydı):

Includes all types of damages the vehicle has experienced, whether minor, moderate, or severe.

May involve minor repairs or damages, such as surface scratches, slight structural damages, or small accidents.

Aims to provide a comprehensive record of all damages to the vehicle, regardless of their scale.

Severe Damage Record (Ağır Hasar Kaydı):

Focuses on significant or severe damages the vehicle has sustained.

Typically refers to accidents or damages that significantly affect the structure or overall performance of the vehicle, with repair costs often exceeding its market value.

Such records usually have a greater impact on the vehicle's market value and serve as a warning for potential buyers about the car's condition.

Total Loss Record (Pert Kaydı):

Total Loss: Indicates that the vehicle has suffered such severe damage that restoring it to operational condition is either impossible or financially unfeasible.

Resale: Vehicles with a "Pert Kaydı" are often sold at auctions as write-off vehicles, either for spare parts or for rebuilding if the damages are non-structural.

Having this record means that insurance companies are unlikely to provide comprehensive insurance coverage for the vehicle in the future.

What is the difference between "Ağır Hasar Kaydı" and "Pert Kaydı"?

Pert Kaydı: Indicates damages exceeding 70%, rendering the vehicle unfit for use.

Ağır Hasar Kaydı: Refers to damage percentages below 70%. Although the vehicle loses significant market value, it can still be used but cannot qualify for comprehensive insurance.

How to inquire about a vehicle's "Hasar Kaydı"?

Through e-Government: Log in to the e-Government system and access the inquiry screen under the name Traffic Policy and Damage Information Inquiry.
